Engine Alignment
To optimize the alignment of the shaft is to increase the operational life of rotating machines. The misalignment occurs when the motor shaft and the drive shaft are not in the same line. The improper alignment causes excessive vibration, noise, increased bearing and coupling temperature, and premature failure of bearings and couplings.
The misalignment is a major cause of failures in a machine: Failure of bearings, shafts and couplings.
One way to detect if an engine is properly aligned is to monitor the physical parameters of the machine such as vibration and temperature.
With vibration analysis we can detect misalignment. Depending on the nature and severity of the alignment, vibration measurements help to detect and assess the severity.
Using thermography we can detect if the coupling has high temperature, and thus confirm the misalignment.
Laser alignment systems are extremely accurate. They can be used in hostile environments, and are safe to use.
